IEC 61347-1:2024 Annex H Insulating barrier test ,Figure H.1 – Test electrode
H.1 General requirements Solid insulation in direct contact with sharp edges of live parts of printed circuit boards used below a printed circuit and that are used to fulfil the requirements for double or reinforced insulation shall be tested according to Clause H.2 to simulate the stress produced by the soldered part in the printed circuit board. H.2 Insulating barrier test The insulating material used to fulfil the requirements for double or reinforced insulation shall be placed between two opposing electrodes. One electrode shall be a flat brass or stainless-steel surface that is placed in contact with the surface of the insulation material to be tested. The second electrode consists in a cylindrical brass or stainless-steel rods with shape and dimensions according to Figure H.1 . The electrodes shall be pressed against the insulation material with a force of 0,5 N ± 0,1 N. The test potential between the two electrodes shall be increased to the test value and the maximum test potential shall be maintained for 1 min. The test value shall be 1 ,25 times the value for double or reinforced insulation as in Table 10. No flashover or breakdown shall occur during the test.
